Position: Charge Nurse – Emergency Department
The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising all nursing functions related to patient care within the Emergency Department. This role involves establishing standards for precise documentation of patients' symptoms, responses, and progress, while also coordinating patient care to ensure seamless service based on clinical nursing requirements. Furthermore, the Charge Nurse provides nursing care to patients as needed to maintain clinical competencies or evaluate specific patient needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; preference given to candidates with a baccalaureate or master's degree in Nursing.
- Current licensure and registration as a professional nurse in Illinois.
- A minimum of two to five years of clinical nursing experience.
- Proven leadership skills, ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Completion of a basic EKG competency course and proficiency in Telemetry patient care.
- Previous experience in a Charge Nurse position or a similar leadership capacity.
- Proficient in basic life support and intravenous (IV) insertion techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Capacity to thrive under pressure and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
