We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. As a key member of our SSN(X) Platform Machinery team, you will play a critical role in the development of the next generation fast attack submarine.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical oversight and leadership to a team developing submarine machinery components
- Guide the development of innovative new designs and provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team
- Coordinate with Navy counterparts and review technical reports
- Conduct periodic briefs to the Navy and oversee the team's work
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 9 years of relevant exempt experience. A Master's Degree and 7 years of experience or a Ph.D. and 4 years of experience are also acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications- Strong technical background with knowledge of submarine machinery and its interfaces with structural, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Experience in traditional and computer-based methodologies for design and analysis of components
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to support technical reports and briefs
