Cabot Corporation is seeking a talented scientist to join our team as a Rotational Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to apply fundamental concepts and principles of chemistry, polymer science, and materials science to a series of product and application development projects.
The successful candidate will spend the next 2 years working on 3 assignments within different teams in the technology organization. This will provide the opportunity to explore different aspects of product and application technology in different product families while building skills, capabilities, and network within Cabot.
The Rotational Scientist will be responsible for conducting independent research to understand and deliver solutions to important technical problems in the areas of particle surface modification, polymer/particle interactions, and structure/property relationships in rubber, coatings, battery, and inkjet formulations.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in chemistry, polymer science, materials science, or a related field, with a strong track record of intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning. They will be able to employ a thorough scientific approach, including understanding of literature, mechanistic thinking, hypothesis setting, experimentation, analysis, and reporting.
The successful candidate will also be able to communicate effectively with broad audiences in written reports and team presentations, and will be able to demonstrate a high level of intellectual property awareness, ensuring new learnings are protected as patents and trade secrets.
