About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trust and Estate Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trust and estate law, possess exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate a commitment to providing top-notch legal services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their estate planning needs, goals, and concerns. Provide expert legal advice on estate planning, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Estate Planning: Draft, review, and revise a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
  • Trust Administration: Advise fiduciaries on the administration of trusts, ensuring compliance with legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Probate Proceedings: Represent clients in probate court, handling all aspects of the probate process, including the preparation and filing of necessary documents.
  • Tax Planning: Provide guidance on estate and gift tax planning, and prepare relevant tax documents to optimize tax efficiency for clients.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle trust and estate disputes, including litigation if necessary, and work towards amicable resolutions whenever possible.
  • Legal Research: Stay current on developments in estate and trust law, and apply this knowledge to client cases and firm practices.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and trust.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services.
Qualifications
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in trust and estate law.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, high attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively, proficiency in legal research tools and estate planning software.
