Job Summary

This is a full-time outpatient Speech-Language Pathologist position at Northwestern Medicine. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week, with an approximate start time of 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, teaching, and participation on committees and departmental process improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for all therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.
  • Demonstrate the four Northwestern Medicine values of teamwork, patients first, integrity, and excellence in daily work and interactions.
  • Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
  • Use effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns when they occur.
  • Maintain primary responsibility over patient plan of care through timely and consistent collaboration with treating Speech Therapy Assistants.
  • Adhere to department policy regarding evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in committees, department processes, and special projects in accordance with clinical expertise and individual performance plan.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members of healthcare teams.
  • Proactively complete non-patient care responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Contribute to educational efforts of the department/clinic.
  • Actively participate in student clinical or observation programs.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Speech Pathologist License in the State of Illinois.
  • Current BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Current certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology, or eligibility following completion of the Clinical Fellowship year.
