Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate nuclear medicine apparatus and auxiliary equipment to perform diagnostic scans and produce outputs for physician interpretation.
  • Prepare, measure, calibrate, and administer radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic tracer doses under physicians' orders.
  • Perform quality control procedures on equipment using standardized radioactive sources and techniques.
  • Input patient information into a dedicated nuclear medicine computer and process computerized patient information.
  • Measure radioactive isotope uptake in patients using non-imaging techniques.
  • Prepare radioactive waste material for disposal.
Requirements:
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board within one year of employment.
  • Current New York State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • BLS certification.
  • Familiarity with standard nuclear medicine procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications applicable to nuclear medicine procedures.
