Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher position at SNU Lab School is responsible for providing instructional support to the educational program in a multi-grade classroom setting. This role involves teaching in a team environment, working one-on-one with students, and leading small groups of students in a large group setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction
    • Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with state standards and educational philosophy.
    • Teach students individually, in small groups, and large groups to reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching academic goals and grade-level standards.
  • Classroom Management
    • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and preparing needed materials and supplies.
    • Monitor individual and/or groups of students in various settings to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate with other members of the teaching team to assist in evaluating progress and implementing classroom objectives.
    • Participate in weekly planning meetings and monthly faculty meetings.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform additional duties as assigned, including lunchroom supervision and outside playground activities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school graduate.
    • Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Typing and spelling competency.
    • Experience with various computer software applications.
    • Data entry experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Early childhood and/or elementary/middle school certified.
    • Demonstrate ability to work successfully with children and adults.
    • Good physical health and ability to perform assigned duties.
    • Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal status.
