Behavioral Health Technician

Touchette Regional Hospital's Behavioral Health team is seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Tech to join our team. As a key member of our treatment team, you will provide direct patient care activities and support the nursing staff in meeting the clients' biopsychosocial, developmental, spiritual, and cultural needs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care activities as directed by the licensed nursing staff, including assisting with daily living tasks and monitoring client status.
- Communicate client status and any changes in condition to Charge nurse in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly and cooperatively to direction given by licensed staff.
- Record client information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor clients and document appropriately according to risk precaution level.
- Maintain a safe environment monitoring continuously for any harmful contraband.
- Attend in-services, training, and meetings as required.
- Participate in departmental meetings and adhere to staffing and scheduling policy.
- Follow chain of command resolving any issues or problems identified.
- Maintain an active role in maintaining customer service.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years experience in a health care or related setting required.
- Certification not required.
- Obtains and maintains basic life support (BLS) certification within 6 months of employment.
- Obtains and renews annually or as recommended by departmental leadership crisis de-escalation certification.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (mask, gown, gloves) when required.
- Requires grasping and reaching with hands/arms.
- Ability to lift up to, but not limited to 25 pounds when assisting clients, turning clients or assisting client with activities.
- Requires bending, stooping, and walking.
- Requires good body mechanics to prevent injury.
This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in non-exempt positions are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek in accordance with state and federal regulations.
