The Mass Museum of Contemporary Art is seeking part-time Exhibition Attendants for the Plastic Bag Emporium, a unique and immersive art installation. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about engaging with diverse audiences and fostering meaningful connections through art.

The Plastic Bag Emporium is an innovative project that critiques our consumer culture through humor and artistry. Attendants will play a crucial role in enhancing visitor experiences during interactive performances and exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional guest service, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
  • Assist with operational tasks, including opening and closing procedures, and maintaining exhibition integrity.
  • Engage with visitors, offering insights about the exhibition and facilitating discussions about the artwork.
  • Monitor visitor behavior to protect the integrity of the exhibits.
  • Support training initiatives for new team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Manage visitor flow and assist with crowd control during peak times.
  • Participate in special events and public programs as required.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service, preferably in a cultural or artistic setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and engaging demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Enthusiasm for art and a commitment to enhancing visitor experiences.

Work Environment:

  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in various lighting conditions and weather scenarios.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are essential.
