The Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy and specimen collection duties in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients for diagnostic testing
  • Process and send out specimens and body fluids for analysis
  • Enter orders and register patients in the laboratory information system
  • Perform accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting of samples
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to patient inquiries
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred
  • 1 year of phlebotomy experience or equivalent training
  • Basic computer skills and data entry experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities

Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting, with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. The individual may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, as well as high noise levels and bright lights.
