Housing Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Housing Specialist to join our team at First Place for Youth. As a Housing Specialist, you will play a critical role in securing and managing housing for our program participants, ensuring they have a safe and stable place to call home.
About the RoleThis is a part-time position, requiring 20 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will work closely with our Program Manager to develop and maintain an inventory of suitable housing units, conduct property inspections, and manage relationships with landlords and vendors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain an inventory of suitable housing units, including networking with landlords, property management businesses, and permanent housing providers.
- Perform property and resident management duties, including move-in and move-out activities, inspections, and maintenance coordination.
- Ensure properties meet habitability and safety standards, and document unit conditions and work performed.
- Submit proposals for repairs, maintenance, and improvements, and track expenses in our property management database.
- Assist with the eviction process, including serving notices and preparing legal files.
- Source and maintain vendor relationships, and manage key systems and property management software.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in affordable housing, housing navigation, or residential property management.
- Two years of experience working in affordable housing, housing navigation, or residential property management settings.
- Working knowledge of landlord-tenant, fair housing, and ADA laws, with the ability to comprehend regulatory and legal agreements.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver's license, reliable car, and proof of insurance.
- Ability to pass a Community Care Licensing background check.
