EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an accredited surgical assisting program is essential. Most healthcare facilities prefer candidates with national certification, which can be obtained through the Liaison Council on Certification (LCT).
LICENSURE
Must hold a valid license in Ohio.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technician in a clinical environment is required, with a strong emphasis on cardiac procedures, general vascular, robotics, orthopedic, and urology surgeries.
IMPORTANT SKILLS
Candidates must possess a robust background in cardiac procedures.
WORK SCHEDULE
Shifts available include 8-hour and 10-hour day or night rotations.
CREDENTIALS
CPR certification as mandated by the client facility, along with any health screenings or tests required by specific healthcare settings or regulatory bodies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work may occur in various healthcare facility settings, with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to ATC policies and procedures.
- Follow client facility protocols diligently.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services rendered.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Effectively communicate pertinent information to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain ethical and professional standards of conduct.
- Prepare and pass surgical instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies during operative procedures while ensuring accurate counts.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Assist in the maintenance and care of surgical specimens.
- Provide patient care in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner, ensuring the dignity and rights of all patients are upheld.
