Job Title: Sales Consultant
Department: Retail Services
Reports to: Retail Services Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Status: Part-Time, approximately 15 hours per week
Compensation: $11.50/hour

SUMMARY
Responsible for driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service to patrons. Ensures the retail space is well-organized and visually appealing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers outstanding customer service by possessing comprehensive knowledge of all merchandise and store policies.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the artists featured in the store and their works.
  • Informs customers about various programs, activities, and products available throughout the organization.
  • Facilitates transactions by demonstrating proficiency in all cash register operations.
  • Prepares daily financial deposits by compiling register pulls and sales reports.
  • Restocks merchandise by monitoring sales and retrieving stock from storage for display.
  • Handles valuable and delicate items with utmost care.
  • Communicates issues, customer feedback, and concerns to management as necessary.
  • Performs additional tasks as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant retail or sales experience is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Possesses sufficient knowledge of art to recommend merchandise related to exhibitions.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; capable of writing basic correspondence.
  • Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Capable of performing calculations related to discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Familiarity with TAM database software and ability to perform sales, inventory, and order processing functions on the point-of-service system.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate, stand, walk, use hands for transactions and packaging, and place/remove items from shelving at various heights. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in this position is generally moderate, typical of an indoor retail environment.
