Job Summary

The Oncology & Infusion Pharmacy Supervisor position is a critical role within the Department of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF Health. This position oversees all aspects of the Oncology & Infusion Pharmacy's operations, including implementing and managing the drug distribution process, improving drug utilization, and enhancing patient outcomes. The successful candidate will work to improve patient care services, ensure quality assurance outcomes, and develop operational staff to meet the needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage the drug distribution process to ensure efficient and effective medication delivery.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.
  • Assist Residency Directors in coordinating residency experiences within the department and assist with student experiences.
  • Work with the inpatient department to ensure exceptional continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient locations.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Provide supervision to pharmacists and technical support staff and directly participate in the pharmacy and cover when staff is unavailable.
Requirements
  • Must have at least three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital and/or oncology & infusion pharmacy or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates subject matter knowledge of pharmaceutical theory and industry best practices in optimizing the use of medication to treat patients.
  • Knowledge of relevant Pharmacy Department, medical center, and UC policies and protocols including medication storage, safety, and patient privacy and treatment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in training and guiding employees on technical skills to compound, prepare, mix, and manufacture sophisticated or rare medication in specialty area.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Advanced Pharmacist Provider in the State of California.
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice.
  • Post graduate year 1 (PGY1) in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience required.
  • Post graduate year 2 (PGY2) in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area preferred.
License/Certification
  • Registered Pharmacist in the state of California.
  • Must be certifiable for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
