Senior Attorney Advocate

Lane Council of Governments is one of the oldest councils of governments, founded in 1945. Our mission is to enhance public services in Lane County and beyond through collaborative partnerships with local governments and special districts.

This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local government officials, community leaders, and residents. As a Principal Attorney, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to support the delivery of public services and programs.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Providing Legal Services: Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents; providing legal advice and guidance to LCOG staff and clients.
• Court Representation: Representing LCOG and its clients in civil proceedings, including trials, hearings, and appeals.
• Land Use: Serving as a hearings official on land use matters and other administrative matters for local and state agencies.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Significant and progressively responsible experience in public sector/municipal law.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Oregon.
