Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced VOSH Safety Engineer to join our team at the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry. As a key member of our occupational safety and health team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of working Virginians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site inspections of private and public sector employers to ensure compliance with Virginia's occupational safety laws and regulations.
  • Identify and evaluate hazards or code violations, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Research and analyze regulations and complex policy standards to ensure compliance.
  • Testify in legal hearings as needed, and participate in formal/informal conferences.
Requirements
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and/or applying federal or state occupational safety standards and regulations.
  • Experience performing work site inspections to ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations.
  • Experience recommending controls and corrective actions of safety hazards.
  • Certification in Industrial Safety, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, or closely related field.
