Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team at EssilorLuxottica Group. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality optometric care while receiving an eye exam.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Patient Care and Eye Exams: Provide exceptional patient care and support during eye exams, including managing patient records and facilitating patient flow throughout the exam.
- Perform Diagnostic Tests: Conduct various tests to aid the optometrist in vision examinations, including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
- Support Optometrist in Accurate Diagnosis and Treatment: Assist the optometrist in accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring that all necessary information is reviewed and consulted with the optometrist as needed.
- Maintain Patient Records and Confidentiality: Handle and file all patient records in an organized and efficient manner, adhering to practice standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Support Contact Lens Exams and Orders: Assist with contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care, trial inventory, and patient orders.
- Operate Point-of-Sale System: Accurately input patient information and create sales transactions, following operational processes and standards.
- Maintain a Safe Working Environment: Ensure a safe working environment for all team members and patients, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Support Visual Merchandising: Maintain visual merchandising in the exam lanes, assessment room, and contact lens area, ensuring a visually appealing and organized environment.
- Adapt to Various Examination Scenarios: Be personable with patients and staff, adapting to various examination scenarios and providing exceptional patient care.
- Perform Pre-Examination Testing: Conduct pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail, explaining all measurements and answering patient questions.
- Responsible for Equipment Maintenance and Disinfection: Maintain and disinfect equipment, providing clinical support to the optometrist as needed.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent: 2+ years' experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of Optical and Medical Terminology: Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing.
- Coaching Skills and Strong Communication: Strong communicator and listening skills, with the ability to assess priorities and address multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Organization and Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and maintain a high level of organization.
- Basic Math Skills: Strong basic math skills, with the ability to accurately input patient information and create sales transactions.
- Experience in Healthcare: Previous experience in healthcare, customer service, retail, and/or optical.
- Optometric Technician Certification: Optometric technician certification, with a strong understanding of optical equipment and diagnostic testing.
