A Retail Checkout Associate is tasked with delivering exceptional customer service through prompt and polite transaction processing, addressing customer needs, and protecting company resources.
Key Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:
Engage customers in pleasant dialogue while maintaining eye contact, scanning items, and completing financial transactions efficiently.
When necessary, properly bag items to ensure they reach customers in excellent condition.
Stay informed about all current promotions and advertisements.
Accurately and swiftly process transactions while maintaining all cash and media securely at the registers.
Relay customer requests to Guest Services management as needed.
Keep the register area organized and ensure adequate supplies are available.
Meet all quality standards, including maintaining quantity expectations at 100% by designated times.
Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with the work schedule, providing adequate notice for any absences.
REQUIREMENTS:
To excel in this role, an individual must successfully perform each essential duty. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Ability to process transactions through the register system.
Strong communication skills with both associates and customers.
Ability to read, count, and write accurately.
Capability to operate all necessary equipment for the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
The associate must be able to stand for extended periods; walk throughout the store; bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
Physical ability to stand for long durations and to move and handle merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which may involve lifting, and performing all functions as described above.
Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
SCHEDULE:
The Retail Checkout Associate position is hourly and can be part-time or full-time. The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on individual availability.
