About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Mechanic - Lead to join our team at US Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our diesel equipment fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and Repair Diesel Equipment: Diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and ensure optimal performance.
  • Document Repair Orders and Maintenance Activities: Accurately record and document all repair orders, maintenance activities, and parts accountability.
  • Handle Road Service Calls: Respond to and resolve road service calls, performing road rescue and transport of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Ensure compliance with workplace safety rules, regulations, and government guidelines.
  • Inventory Management and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper recordkeeping.
  • Backup to Other Maintenance Personnel: Provide support and assistance to other maintenance team members as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related Experience and Requirements: 7 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both. Alternatively, 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Competency: Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
  • Independent Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
  • Prior Experience in Administering PM Programs: Experience in administering preventative maintenance programs.
  • Personal Hand Tools: Must furnish own personal hand tools.
