The Peer Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, and motivator to support guests in developing skills, confidence, and relationships as part of their mental health recovery. This position collaborates with a team of peer specialists, a peer manager, and a crisis team to offer hope and recovery-based support in our drop-in and Living Room programs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct peer recovery support based on personal lived experience.
- Assist with coordinating outreach efforts to promote the Living Room Services.
- Build and maintain relationships with other social service organizations, including 988, hotlines, warm lines, first responders, and medical personnel.
- Develop creative ways to market and promote the program.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of CRSS training preferred.
- Life experience as a consumer of mental health services and willingness to share recovery experiences.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills.
- Detail-oriented with above-average organizational skills.
- Participate in mandatory staff training and attend events as assigned.
- Attend staff meetings and weekly supervisions.
- Stay up-to-date on referrals, community programs, and other programs via the Clinical Campus resource.
- Remain diligent about checking emails and responding within 24 business hours.
