Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Texas Tech University Museum. As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our visitors, staff, and assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Security Operations: Monitor galleries, complete a gallery checklist, and ensure that gallery information guidelines are available for visitors to use.
  • Visitor Management: Count and enter daily reports on visitor numbers, patrol the Museum, and be alert to any visitors violating posted rules.
  • Incident Response: Report incidents of injury regarding the public and staff to the appropriate personnel, and respond to alarms, provide customer service, and perform other duties as requested.
  • Facilities Management: Assist with the maintenance and operation of a scissor lift and indoor forklift, and report problems regarding safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate staff and the Operations Manager for timely repair.
  • Communication: Be alert to entering visitors, staff, and students, distribute keys/badges, monitor videos and radios for illegal entry and weather reports, answer the telephone, and make announcements.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: Proficiency in written and mathematical processes as may be reflected by the completion of the tenth grade plus one year of security, customer service, public relations, or related experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to meet and communicate effectively with the general public, and interpret and understand oral and written instructions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to be flexible as the work week can vary from Monday through Sunday.
Safety Information:

Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all TTU employees.

Occasional Duties:
  • Special Events: Work overtime events as needed.
  • Lost and Found: Responsible for logging in items for lost and found.
  • Facilities Support: Assist facilities personnel with the setup and dismantling for meetings and seminars as needed.
  • Compliance: Comply with all university and departmental rules, laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Training: Attend all required training or certification programs.
