About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Career Services Manager to lead our employment program and staff at Jewish Family Services of Western New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our program, identifying gaps in employment programming, and pursuing new partnerships and opportunities to support the success and expansion of our Career Services program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership and Supervision
    • Oversee a team of Career Services staff who assess and counsel clients, address barriers to employment, create employment plans, and make referrals when needed.
    • Complete coaching cycles and support staff growth, working to streamline service delivery within the department and increase teamwork.
    • Collaborate with Career Services staff and other departments to assign clients to appropriate service lines based on needs and availability/priority of program.
    • Attend departmental, partner, and agency meetings as required.
  • Grant Compliance
    • Ensure services, case notes, and files are in compliance with federal and state funder guidelines.
    • Work with the Director of Community Services to meet reporting deadlines for all contracted services, including BRS/OTDA for RSSP, Access VR, Promote, MG, and internal progress reports.
    • Effectively manage and bill payment-based contracts in a timely and regular basis, working to improve outcomes to maximize service delivery and goal achievement.
  • Employer Partnership Development
    • Conduct outreach to new employers through written correspondence, one-on-one meetings, cold calling, group presentations, and attendance at outside events.
    • Create partnerships with employers to investigate, address, and respond to their hiring needs, incorporating the refugee workforce.
    • Establish sustainable relationships with state, county, community, and other agencies and companies, including DSS employment division, Department of Labor, local employment recruiters, etc.
    • Develop a customer referral network for potential employers and research employment trends to identify employment paths oriented toward filling existing employment gaps.
  • Program Development and Growth
    • Create and conduct relevant workshops to empower clients.
    • Work with leadership to expand access to job training programs, recommending and investigating opportunities for program growth, including the expansion of fee-based programming and new funding streams.
    • Make recommendations for ESL and other training programs based on employer forums and collaborate with training partners to develop such programs.
    • Assist in developing and writing grant proposals to meet agency and department needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or combination of education and experience in the refugee, employment, human resources, or human services area.
  • 1-3 years of program management experience.
  • Background working in career services, workforce development, or human resources is highly desirable, or experience in an inside or outside sales function, including account management experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Exhibited ability to effectively work within an inclusive and culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong internet research and computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based health information systems.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary range of $58,500 to $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
