Our focus is on the integration of the Aurora Driver, a sophisticated self-driving system that is designed to function across various vehicle types, including freight and passenger vehicles.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Vehicle Platform Safety Engineer, you will take charge of all functional safety aspects related to the integration of the Aurora Driver into vehicles developed by our automotive partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all functional safety interactions with automotive partners.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Safety Plan that outlines safety efforts at the vehicle level.
  • Collaborate with automotive partners to customize safety concepts to meet their unique requirements.
  • Lead the creation, upkeep, and dissemination of functional and technical safety specifications.
  • Conduct Safety Analyses on the interactions between the Aurora Driver and vehicle platform subsystems.
  • Direct safety-related integration and testing efforts between the Aurora Driver and the capable vehicle platform.
  • Assist in formulating the safety case for autonomous vehicles.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in designing, developing, and validating safety-critical systems in accordance with ISO 26262 or similar safety standards.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Deep understanding of safety mechanisms at the vehicle level and their translation into system architecture.
  • Experience with systems engineering requirements management tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Over eight years of experience in safety-critical systems design, development, and validation per ISO 26262.
  • Prior experience in supervising and ensuring the execution of functional safety initiatives.
  • Expertise in developing functional safety concepts for autonomous vehicles.
  • ISO 26262 Certification.
  • Familiarity with ISO 21448.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will be eligible for performance bonuses, equity options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
