Job Summary:

The University of California System is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Medicine IMU/PCU department. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to adult medical, cardiac, and neuro/stroke patients in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to adult medical, cardiac, and neuro/stroke patients in a 26-bed acute care progressive care unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, identify patient needs, and prioritize care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and provide education to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless transitions of care and effective communication.
  • Participate in shared governance and contribute to the development of professional nursing practice and quality outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART (UC San Diego Health Advanced Resuscitation Training) within six (6) months of hire date.
  • At least two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience at the IMU/PCU level of care or higher.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
  • Strong critical thinking, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN/MSN.
  • Three (3+) or more years of experience at the IMU/PCU level of care or higher.
  • Experience with Medicine and/or Cardiac Patient Populations.
  • PCCN Certification.
  • Recent experience with navigating and charting within electronic medical records.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
