Job Overview

The Public Library of Brookline seeks a visionary leader to oversee its youth services department. As Head of Children's and Teen Services, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that engage and educate young patrons. This role requires a strong understanding of library ethics and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and community members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement youth services programs and services
  • Supervise staff and provide guidance on program development and implementation
  • Collaborate with library administration to coordinate and leverage shared services within the Town and the network
  • Develop and propose youth services policy to the Library Director for submission to the Board of Library Trustees

Requirements:

  • Masters in Library Science from an A.L.A.-accredited institution
  • Three to five years of experience with youth services in a library environment with at least two years of related supervisory experience
  • Significant experience with personal computers and library automation systems
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to identify and analyze complex issues and develop appropriate recommendations

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $37.70 - $43.27 hourly. The Town of Brookline offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
