About the Role

This is a key position within our Risk Advisory & Assurance Services team, responsible for providing independent assurance, advice, and insight to our Board of Directors and Senior Management. The role is part of a multi-disciplinary, international team that aims to add value and continuously improve operations across the Corporation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a 29 FTE internal audit team across nine brands, overseeing all operating company activities across the maritime Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) disciplines.
  • Develop the annual HESS audit plan, ensuring compliance with safety management systems and identifying best practices opportunities in the HESS space.
  • Oversee internal International safety management (ISM) audits, facilitating root cause analysis and management action plan development.
  • Conduct newbuild assessments of ships' ISM prior to delivery and shore-based HESS audits of port operations, tour facilities, and training facilities.
  • Lead HESS-based process, system, and organizational design reviews to identify best practice insights.
  • Assess and monitor management's progress in implementing agreed-upon opportunities, including management action plans for SMS audits, shore-based audits, and cross-brand insight reviews.
  • Oversee staff training and development, maintaining the global quality control program.
  • Report to the Chief Audit Officer on day-to-day HESS audit activities, the annual HESS project plan, and audit results.
  • Report to the Board on the annual audit plan, audit results, and implementation status of management action plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Maritime-related field of study; Master's or Deck Officers License, Chief Engineer or Engineer Officers license, or any equivalent combination of relevant Maritime Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security-related disciplines.
  • 10 years of maritime experience.

Work Environment

This position is classified as in-office, requiring employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida, Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
