Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Radiation Specialist:- Administer targeted radiation treatments to designated areas of the body utilizing advanced equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure accurate patient positioning for treatment as per medical directives.
- Document and modify equipment settings, input data into electronic systems, and manage dosage levels effectively.
- Follow radiation safety regulations to protect patients, colleagues, and oneself.
- Maintain comprehensive records of radiation doses, equipment configurations, and patient reactions.
- Conduct treatment sessions autonomously in alignment with the treatment strategy and physician's orders.
- Inspect equipment for operational integrity and monitor patients throughout treatment, noting any atypical responses.
- Evaluate and communicate treatment-related side effects, including skin irritation and hair loss.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families, addressing inquiries and offering guidance for post-treatment care.
- Calculate the actual radiation dosages administered during each session.
- Prepare treatment apparatus and devices, and document treated areas through photography.
- Collaborate with medical professionals in formulating radiation treatment strategies.
- Oversee and mentor technologists, offering assistance during dosimetry processes.
- Contribute to the development of follow-up care plans.
- Completion of an accredited radiation therapy program.
- ARRT Board Certification in Radiation Therapy, R.T.(T), or eligibility for certification within a specified timeframe.
- State licensure as required.
