The Kings County Public Health Department is seeking a skilled professional to join their team as a Public Health Nurse I or II. With a valid California driver's license, a valid California license to practice as a Registered Nurse, and a valid California Public Health Nursing certificate, this individual will be responsible for managing client caseloads, establishing priorities for service, and providing health education, assessment, and counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple clients with diverse health needs and prioritize services accordingly.
  • Update records, reports, and databases with accurate information.
  • Conduct home visits to provide health education and support.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, administer treatments, and medications as prescribed.
  • Collect and document client information from various sources.
  • Monitor community health trends and patterns.
  • Apply established guidelines for case determination.
  • Facilitate communication between families, clinics, hospitals, and specialists.
  • Maintain reports and records related to client intake activities.
  • Train less experienced staff and volunteers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Valid California license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Valid California Public Health Nursing certificate.
  • Two years of experience in public health nursing activities at a level equivalent to Public Health Nurse I.
Salary and Benefits

Public Health Nurse I: $75,150.40 - $91,707.20 annually, $36.13 - $44.09 hourly.

Public Health Nurse II: $83,012.80 - $101,316.80 annually, $39.91 - $48.71 hourly.
