About the Role

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week exempt position with UVA benefits. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will contribute to developing solutions to meet university-wide goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and overall environmental stewardship.

You will work closely with clients to provide excellent customer service in resolving customer service inquiries and conduct timely and comprehensive design reviews of sustainability issues for new construction or renovation projects. Your expertise in HVAC systems and LEED certification will be invaluable in fostering a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong analytical and organizational skillset for managing multiple projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced spreadsheets is essential, as well as independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve customer service inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Conduct timely and comprehensive design reviews of sustainability issues for new construction or renovation projects.
  • Foster a safe work environment by complying with all OSHA, BOCA, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage project implementation to ensure timely completion with minimal disruptions.
  • Calculate payback periods for conservation and investment.
  • Document achievements and assist in communication material development.
  • Identify and implement sustainability opportunities through trend analysis.
  • Perform construction project reviews for compliance with UVA's Green Building Standards.

This role requires a high level of technical expertise, including experience with energy modeling software and familiarity with building energy systems, utility metering metrics, and commissioning processes. You will also need to have excellent teamwork skills and be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, sustainable design, architecture, landscape architecture, land use planning, environmental science, environment planning, or similar field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in an engineering-related field, designing, constructing, or evaluating building energy systems or controls.
