As a vital member of the Kodiak Area Native Association, the HR Specialist provides extensive human resources support, focusing significantly on employee onboarding and integration. This role emphasizes the cultivation of productive relationships with both internal and external partners, prioritizing an exceptional service experience.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Aligning with the organization's mission and objectives while adhering to quality standards. Embedding KANA's core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, and Pride into all actions and decisions.
- Upholding KANA's Code of Ethics by engaging in professional conduct characterized by honesty, integrity, respect, fairness, and good faith, positively reflecting the organization.
- Overseeing the pre-boarding process for new hires, students, contractors, and locums, and facilitating the Day 1 Orientation.
- Coordinating travel logistics for candidate site visits.
- Managing and conducting New Hire Orientation sessions on a monthly basis.
- Facilitating the efficient processing of HR Actions, including hires, promotions, transfers, and separations.
- Developing, implementing, and managing HR policies and procedures. Assisting in the ongoing upkeep of HR policies, job descriptions, staff directories, and related documentation.
- Maintaining accurate personnel records.
- Administering KANA's Drug and Alcohol Free program, which includes scheduling drug screenings, responding to inquiries, providing ongoing support, and managing billing needs.
- Addressing employee concerns regarding compliance or policy violations, ensuring confidentiality is maintained on a need-to-know basis.
- Assisting with HR-related special projects, event coordination, and planning.
- Providing support to other HR roles and serving as a backup for various HR positions as required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required, along with two to three years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within a healthcare setting; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Consistent, reliable attendance and a genuine passion for assisting others are essential aspects of this role.
Proficiency in analyzing situations and developing and implementing effective solutions is crucial. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills, as well as effective writing, public speaking, and reading comprehension abilities, are mandatory.
