Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will provide medical and surgical care to patients under the supervision of physician(s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services to patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the medical team to deliver organized, timely, cost-effective, and quality patient care.
  • Supervise support staff and provide patient education.
  • Participate in research and development of critical paths and standards of care.
  • Utilize current research to develop, implement, and evaluate critical paths and standards of care.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current Virginia licensure from the appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant.
  • Current national certification as appropriate for role.
  • Credentialing in accordance with medical staff by-laws for specific job title.
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (where needed).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of previous clinical experience with the population served.
  • Previous experience in an academic healthcare system.
Working Conditions

This is an inpatient APP position. Some weekends. Works on the Diabetes Service and staffs the follow-up clinic.
