Job Title: Family Finding Caseworker

Job Summary:

As a Family Finding Caseworker, you will work under the general direction of the Family Finding & IL Supervisor to engage extended family members in service and involvement with the child and family.

You will perform activities on behalf and in support of the Family Finding Program, including promotion of the program with case management, referred families, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
  • Meet with families to set up meetings and facilitate family meetings
  • Prepare documents and provide transportation to meetings as needed
  • Create eco maps with families and youth and assist with building their family tree
  • Assist with required referrals and develop plans to support family engagement
  • Engage families during meetings and processes, and prepare Family Finding documentation
  • Maintain the Family Finding file and assist with paperwork to access services
  • Plan, organize, and lead family finding meetings, and collect and report data
  • Attend required trainings and prepare court documentation and testimony as needed
  • Ensure referral source needs are being met and complete contacts with Resource Families
  • Recruit and retain Resource Families, and assist in locating appropriate placements for youth
  • Maintain resource family records, monitor ICPC cases, and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • OR two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework, including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • OR any equivalent combination of experience and training, including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
Working Conditions:

Prolonged periods working on a computer in an open office environment, comfortable communicating through virtual technology, and travel throughout the assigned region may occur and may be in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds.
