Key Responsibilities- Conduct Regular Safety Inspections: Perform documented weekly inspections to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of all work areas, employees, machinery, and safety equipment.
- Evaluate and Mitigate Hazards: Evaluate all onsite processes for potential hazards by completing Job Hazard Analysis and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazards Assessments. Implement site-specific hazard control and mitigation methods, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate Safety Training: Coordinate and conduct any new and reoccurring required safety training for all shifts and departments for all employees and contractors.
- Manage Safety Records and Reports: Maintain safety training records and database, certifications, incident reports, and OSHA logs.
- Lead Safety Committee Meetings: Implement and lead the monthly Safety Committee meetings.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and OSHA requirements are followed by all employees and contractors, such as wearing the required PPEs, Proper LOTO, Confined Space and Hot work permits are executed.
- Assist with Regulatory Audits and Inspections: Assist with safety-related regulatory audits and inspections.
- Support Incident Investigations: Assist supervisors with safety-related incident investigations. Ensures incident reports are complete with detailed documentation in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborates with the People Operations Business Partner and onsite Operations Management team for incidents involving injuries, illnesses, Workers Comp claims, and substance testing.
- Work on Various Projects: Works with the quality, operations, and maintenance team on various projects.
- Perform Emergency Response Drills: Perform periodic drills and lead the emergency response teams.
- Communicate Safety Information: Liaise with site management to plan and deliver informational and educational safety information and changes.
- Conduct Safety Meetings and Toolbox Talks: Conduct safety meetings & toolbox talks as needed with all employees, shifts, and departments.
- Prepare Safety Statistics and Reports: Prepare monthly safety statistics and other reports as requested for the EHS Director.
- Education and Experience: Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum 2 years of experience in Safety preferred.
- Certifications and Skills: Safety-related certifications (First Aid Trainer, Forklift Trainer, OSHA 30 within the last 2 years) preferred. Flexibility with work schedule. Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
- Personal Qualities: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to solve problems. Ability to build collaborative relationships and interface with cross-functional teams. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Language Skills: Bilingual Preferred: Proficient understanding of written and verbal English/Spanish.
