We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiologist to join our team at the Department of Veteran Affairs. As a member of our diagnostic radiology department, you will be responsible for interpreting imaging exams in general radiology, body imaging, and nuclear medicine.

About Us

The Department of Veteran Affairs provides care to eligible Veterans through 3 medical centers and 2 community-based outpatient clinics. Our Margaret Cochran VA Campus is a high complexity facility located in Manhattan, with major educational affiliations with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and SUNY-Health Science Center - Brooklyn.

Job Summary

This is an on-site position requiring rotation between campuses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The successful candidate will provide administrative, clinical, educational, and research activities in radiology service. A strong background in gastrointestinal and genitourinary exams with contrast material is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpret imaging exams, including fluoroscopy, CT, MR, US, and PET/CT.
  • Review radiology requests for appropriateness, respond to consults timely, prescribe exam protocols, review image quality, and provide feedback to technical staff.
  • Obtain informed consent, coordinate clinical care, communicate urgent findings timely, write notes in the EMR, enter orders in the EMR, and respond to clinical emergencies.
  • Interact with patients to obtain relevant clinical history and physical exam findings within the scope of radiology practice.
  • Provide clinical oversight of medication administration, including contrast material and other medications relevant to diagnostic radiology.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, such as peer review and performance improvement.
  • Participate in teaching programs and clinical conferences, like tumor boards.
Requirements
  • A full & unrestricted license from any US State is required to work at VA.
