About the Job

Hawkins is seeking a skilled Driver to join our team at our Dayton, OH facility. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering products to internal and external customer sites in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Product Delivery: Professionally deliver products to internal and external customer sites, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  • Equipment Operation: Responsible for knowing the equipment (forklift, hose, pump, etc.) and process operations of handling, storing, shipping, and transporting hazardous materials compliant with DOT standards.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete required documentation in paper form and/or on a computer, including shipping and receiving paperwork, inventory sheets, inspection reports, etc.
  • Maintenance: Provide routine minor maintenance and inspection of vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain housekeeping standards, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Quality and Safety: Apply all product quality and safety standards, as well as report any product safety incidents to the Supervisor, Manager, or designated back-up (applicable to positions working in accordance with specific plant or company certifications).
  • Communication: Communicate compliance, safety, and equipment needs as identified, ensuring seamless collaboration with team members.
  • Independence: Ability to safely operate independently while adhering to all company work instructions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other miscellaneous related duties as needed.
About You
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years previous driving experience required.
  • CDL Requirements: Currently holding a Class A or B CDL with ability to obtain tanker and HAZMAT endorsements.
  • Driving Record: Satisfactory driving records required.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Physical Tasks: Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, reaching, and pulling.
  • Height and Ladder Use: Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs and ladders.
  • PPE: Ability to wear PPE and equipment such as safety shoes, face shields, safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves, and a hard hat; chemical suits and a hair/beard net when required.
  • Forklift Operation: Ability to safely operate an industrial forklift when required.
  • Grooming Requirements: Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements (for respirator use, SQF-certified environments, etc.).
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions.
  • Chemical and Machinery Exposure: Willing to work around chemicals and industrial machinery.
