Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Biology Instructor to join our part-time lecturer pool at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in biology and related fields, as well as contributing to the development of curriculum and assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach small to large lecture courses, seminars, discussions, or laboratories in biology and related fields.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and assessment plans to ensure student learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in biology or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to student learning and success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
Compensation

Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience.

Anticipated starting salary:

L-A / Range 2 - $5007 - $5675

L-B / Range 3 - $5925 - $7125

L-C / Range 4 - $6500 - $8982

L-D / Range 5 - $8184 - $9854
