Job Title: City Driver

Job Summary:

As a City Driver at FedEx Freight, you will be responsible for transporting freight between Service Centers and customers while providing exceptional customer service. Your primary focus will be on ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods, while also contributing to the growth of our business through sales and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples, to transport freight between Service Centers and customers
Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards
Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
Recoup and repair damaged freight when necessary
Verify and complete required documentation and reports
Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain required documentation
Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required
Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business

Requirements:

Possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements
Have one year of experience within the most recent three years or successful completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
Possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
Meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations

Working Conditions:

Drive throughout shift on all types of roads and in all types of weather
Exposure to noise and vibration
Exposure to dust and diesel fumes
Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to count and perform basic math
Basic written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week
Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of trucks
Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Pay Transparency:

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job, and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay:

$35.89 per hour
