Position Summary
The Principal Automation Engineer will be responsible for the design and execution of automation solutions tailored for the supply, enhancement, and installation of Hot and Cold Rolling Mills.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical authority on rolling mill operations (both hot and cold) throughout all phases of project development (sales, engineering, commissioning, and support).
- Design and implement automation control systems incorporating motion control, advanced sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and actuators.
- Provide support for existing systems and assist clients with complex technical challenges.
- Lead the development of Level 1 control systems adhering to departmental standards, functional specifications, mechanical and hydraulic designs, as well as process and equipment knowledge.
- Execute complex tasks that necessitate the creation of new or refined engineering methodologies and practices.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with local project teams (including project managers, engineers, and support staff) and internal specialists from various departments, as well as clients and suppliers, to deliver engineering solutions for technical challenges and project-related issues.
- Oversee integrated testing and simulation of the complete system prior to delivery to the client.
- Conduct on-site commissioning and training as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in an engineering capacity within the metals sector or a related field.
- Proficient in Hot and Cold Rolling processes.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Background in automation and/or automation methodologies.
- Familiarity with X-Pact LogiCAD/Probas and/or Siemens TIA Portal is preferred.
- Demonstrated capability to apply engineering principles to resolve design challenges.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and mentor junior staff.
- Willingness to travel to support project initiatives.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong computer proficiency.
