We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railcar Maintenance Engineer to join our team at PEMCCO, Inc. as a key member of our engineering and maintenance department.
Key Responsibilities- Engineering and Maintenance Management: Develop and oversee comprehensive schedules for inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance, utilizing advanced maintenance management systems to track and manage maintenance activities.
- Coordination with Staff and Vendors: Establish effective communication protocols with maintenance staff and external vendors, ensuring timely procurement and supply of parts and equipment, and scheduling and leading regular meetings with vendors to discuss performance and address issues.
- Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Implement sophisticated data collection systems to monitor railcar performance, analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop and execute engineering action plans to address identified issues and optimize operational efficiency.
- Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate maintenance activities with transportation, engineering, safety, and quality departments, resolving operational challenges through effective engineering solutions and collaboration with other departments.
- Support and Mentorship: Provide engineering guidance and support to railcar technicians and other maintenance personnel, develop and deliver engineering training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the maintenance team, and establish a feedback mechanism to continually improve training programs.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit detailed engineering reports and maintenance activity reports to the MDOT MTA Contract Monitor, develop and manage budgets for maintenance activities, and maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and operations activities.
- Industry Trends and Technological Advancements: Stay informed about the latest industry trends and best practices in railcar maintenance engineering, evaluate and implement new engineering technologies to improve maintenance efficiency and effectiveness, and attend industry conferences and seminars to gain insights and network with other professionals.
- Instruction on Proper Maintenance Activities: Instruct employees on proper maintenance activities using established engineering procedures and training materials, and regularly review and update training materials to reflect current best practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or four (4) years' experience in railcar maintenance and maintenance management can be substituted for the degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in metro railcar maintenance engineering, extensive knowledge of railcar maintenance procedures and best practices, and experience with advanced maintenance management systems and data analysis tools.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to lead and mentor a team of maintenance personnel, strong organizational and time-management skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
