Carpentry Specialist

Carpenter Position at CSI Group

Carpenter is responsible for performing all phases of construction including wood framing, drywall installation, drywall finishing, tile installation, painting and flooring installation. Electrical/IT background is preferred.

• Install wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work
• Install large electronics such as TVs, cameras, computers, etc.
• Design and install cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation
• Add fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures
• Select lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer's budget and style
• Calculate the number of fasteners required for each job
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals
• Read blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations

• An associate degree or an apprenticeship in carpentry is preferred
• Electrical and/or IT background is preferred
• Creativity and design skills
• Must have own tools
• Experience of using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws and nail guns
• Joinery or cabinet-making skills
• Knowledge of building regulations and codes to be adhered to
• Must have a clean driving record

• Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Travel is required
• Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
• Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
