About the Role

Mechanics Bank is seeking a skilled Universal Banker to join our team at our Downtown Oxnard Branch. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions, and promoting Bank products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process cash and non-cash transactions in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive deposit services to individuals, fiduciary, and small businesses, promoting the full range of deposit products and services that meet customer needs.
  • Assist customers with account maintenance, online banking, mobile banking, and other complex account issues, resolving concerns and providing excellent customer service.
  • Review customer transactions for red flags and fraudulent items, maintaining awareness of current criminal scams and preventing customers from becoming victims of fraud.
  • Represent the Bank and its products and services with pride and enthusiasm, utilizing sales techniques to uncover customer needs and present Bank products and services.
  • Process small business loan applications, review loan packages for required documentation, and refer complex business loans to business partners.
  • Gather data and process various reports and forms to ensure compliance with Bank policies and procedures, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, and regulatory compliance programs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Approximately 50% travel required, typically within a 50-mile radius, with mileage paid for travel between assignments.
  • Notary license preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of banking experience in operations and sales.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to make decisions using information available.
  • Working knowledge of Bank deposit products and services.
  • Working knowledge of Bank's consumer loan products.
  • Basic knowledge of alternative Bank services and vendor-provided products.
  • Ability to persuade, including the value and benefits of using the Bank's services and products.
  • Knowledge of applicable Bank policies and procedures.
