Position Overview

Peraton is looking for a Complex Maintenance Facility (CMF) Maser/Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Technician to support critical operations in the field of deep space communications.

The Deep Space Network (DSN) serves as a vital communication link for interplanetary missions, providing essential data and images that enhance our understanding of the universe. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the systems that facilitate these communications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct maintenance, repair, and testing of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) and related cryogenic and mechanical systems.
  • Utilize expertise in RF/Microwave technology for the repair and calibration of equipment operating at frequencies above 2 GHz.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of IM&TE and RF systems for troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Perform repairs at the component level and execute reverse engineering techniques when documentation is lacking.
  • Carry out calibrations, tests, and validation processes, ensuring all performance documentation is completed accurately.
  • Fabricate necessary cables, connectors, and interface devices as required.
  • Identify performance issues and determine root causes of equipment failures.
  • Develop innovative maintenance techniques to enhance existing procedures.
  • Utilize computer automation for operation, calibration, and diagnostics.
  • Document all maintenance activities in a computerized management system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
  • Office and shop environment with exposure to various test equipment.
  • Use of machine shop tools and power/hand tools.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, and working in diverse conditions.
  • Potential exposure to loud noise, dust, and extreme temperatures.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent military training in Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Minimum of two years of experience with cryogenic low noise amplifiers and RF/Microwave systems.
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical devices.
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and maintenance management software.
  • Valid driver's license and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to work on-site as required.
