Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general and heavy cleaning duties in patient rooms, public areas, offices, and operating rooms.
  • Assist in the orientation of new housekeeping assistants and provide training on departmental procedures.
  • Operate electrical and battery-operated machines for scrubbing, shampooing, and burnishing.
  • Move furniture and equipment as directed and assist in freight moving.
  • Empty trash chutes and clean waste containers.
  • Advises supervisor of unsanitary, unsafe, or otherwise unsatisfactory conditions and defective or damaged fixtures, furniture, or equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of bio-hazardous waste.
  • Perform all in-between case cleaning in the ORs, terminally clean all ORs, and clean all LDRs after each delivery.
Requirements
  • One to two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to understand oral instructions and follow departmental procedures.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
