Job Overview

Mittera Group is seeking a Roll Tender to become an integral part of our dynamic workforce where innovation is celebrated and career advancement is encouraged. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Press Operators and Assistants to ensure seamless and effective production by consistently maintaining an adequate supply of roll paper stock for the press and executing various pressroom tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm roll inventory numbers against job specifications.
  • Document roll numbers and weights on the roll log sheet.
  • Prepare rolls for splicing and position them appropriately.
  • Transport rolls into place and secure them in the splicer.
  • Monitor oil levels in equipment twice per shift and replenish as necessary.
  • Inspect overflow pans each shift; empty and clean as required.
  • Install plates on the press.
  • Assist with web press operations during setup or web interruptions.
  • Return unused paper to inventory post-job completion.
  • Complete necessary paperwork at the conclusion of each job and shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas throughout the shift.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Operator and receive training on the press as time permits.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Press Assistants as needed or directed.
  • Ensure production targets and departmental metrics are met.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in Roll Stand operations preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and business communications.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements, to resolve practical issues.
  • Capable of interpreting various forms of instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and meet strict deadlines.
  • Organized with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and follow through on assigned projects with minimal oversight.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to quality and safety.
Physical Demands
  • Requires proper body mechanics for pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Near visual acuity is necessary.
  • Must be able to navigate and operate departmental equipment.
  • Ability to function professionally under stressful conditions.
