Job Title: Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Authorization Specialist to join our team at Florida Digestive Health Specialists LLP.

Job Summary

The Authorization Specialist will be responsible for efficiently coordinating all aspects of patient procedures within our gastroenterology office. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a strong commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patient appointments for gastrointestinal procedures, including colonoscopies, endoscopies, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Coordinate with patients, physicians, and medical staff to ensure accurate scheduling and preparation for procedures.
  • Communicate procedural instructions, including preparation and dietary guidelines, to patients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of scheduled appointments and procedure details in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Address patient inquiries and provide assistance with scheduling changes or cancellations as needed.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff to optimize scheduling efficiency and patient flow within the office.
  • Follow up with patients to confirm appointments and provide pre-procedure instructions.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in medical scheduling, preferably in a gastroenterology or healthcare setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a commitment to patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to gastroenterology is a plus.
