Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
The Cesar Chavez Foundation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the property is maintained in the best possible condition and that all resident service requests are completed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform property maintenance and repairs as assigned by the Property Manager, including plastering, painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical work.
- Observe and practice safety procedures when conducting maintenance work, and ensure that all equipment, tools, and supplies are properly secured and accounted for.
- Perform all janitorial duties on building grounds and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, polishing, and vacuuming.
- In conjunction with the Property Manager, prioritize, schedule, and complete resident service requests for unit repairs, general maintenance, and janitorial duties.
- Prepare properties for inspections by regulatory agencies, and coordinate and monitor progress of vendors or outside contractors.
- Inspect property daily and report any needed repairs to the Property Manager, and troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Inspect building equipment per established specifications to ensure safe and reliable operations, and provide preventative maintenance services in accordance with appropriate guidelines.
- Maintain equipment, maintenance, and cleaning supplies inventory, and order as needed.
- Complete all paperwork, including preventative maintenance schedules, work orders, inventory reports, and daily work log reports, on a daily basis or as required by the Property Manager.
- Assist in the preparation of supplies orders, and respond to after-hours and weekend maintenance emergencies.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years general maintenance experience, including plastering, painting, basic plumbing, and carpentry.
- Able to read, write, and speak English, and able to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Effectively manage and solve practical problems, and handle situations with limited instructions.
- Ability to work well with others, and basic computer skills.
- Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance required.
