Physiatrist for Independent Medical Assessments

At MRG Exams West, a leading provider of independent medical examinations, we are seeking a skilled Physiatrist to join our team as an Independent Medical Assessor. As part of the VA's disability benefits process, you will be responsible for conducting thorough medical assessments on United States Veterans. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your expertise in a unique and rewarding role.
The successful candidate will be required to review medical health records through a secure Web Portal, perform comprehensive assessments, and complete Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQ's) through the same portal. DBQ's are condition-specific forms created by the VA, which enable you to document exam findings essential for the VA's decision-making process. Please note that this position does not involve making disability determinations, as these decisions are made solely by the VA.
This is not a treating role, but rather an assessment-based position. You will work independently, reviewing and assessing an average of 4 Veterans per day, with some flexibility to accommodate varying needs. In addition to competitive compensation, this role offers the chance to serve Veterans in their community while leveraging your medical expertise in a meaningful way.
To succeed in this role, you should possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in electronic documentation, and typing skills. Your ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is also essential. A key aspect of this position is meeting the submission deadline of completed DBQ's within 24 hours after an exam.
We require applicants to hold a current license as a Physiatrist and be Board Certified in either Neurological Surgery, PM&R, or Psychiatry and Neurology. Additionally, candidates must meet the credentialing requirements set forth by the VA.
