Embedded Hardware Design Engineer

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the design, integration, and improvement of the firmware stacks for our main computational board embedded in our devices.
This includes designing and implementing a wide range of low-level embedded software on our hardware platform, including device drivers, communication protocols, security requirements, refactoring and porting existing code, and other low-level programming activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use technical knowledge to influence decisions across multiple teams and products
- Participate in high-level reviews of architecture and product designs
- Drive technology roadmaps for the organization
- Demonstrate high design creativity and positive impact
- Establish engineering excellence and company best-practices within the department
- Assist in talent development, career skills, and mentor engineers
- Explore external technology offerings and work with vendors
- Stay current with industry trends and technology
- Work cross-functionally with various groups to develop and validate new product offerings
- Develop intellectual properties to reinforce the patent portfolio
Basic Qualifications:
- Passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences through released hardware
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of hardware development experience, including full life cycle and design-to-delivery experience
- Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping, including dev kits, 3D printing, and embedded software
- Full product life-cycle experience, including brainstorming, product prototyping, and realization
- Experience with PCB design and layout, including ORCAD design package
- Regulatory compliance experience, including FCC, UL, IEEE-1725, and CEC
- Experience with embedded system design, including processor selection, communication protocols, and low power design
- Experience with RF technology and RF design, especially for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- Basic mechanical design experience, including CAD design tools and 3D modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with ARM multi-core processors
- Experience with extremely battery-efficient designs
- Knowledge of wireless BLE 4.0 protocols and TCP/IP networking
- Experience working with cellular modems and modules
