We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Orthodontic Assistant to join our team at Oak Dental Partners. The successful candidate will provide exceptional support to our orthodontists, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Assist orthodontists chair-side during patient appointments
- Greet and escort patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment
- Take radiographs as instructed by the provider, maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Set up and break down operatories, maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Stock all materials needed in the clinic daily, ensuring a seamless workflow
- Assist with sterilization and maintenance of equipment and materials, adhering to OSHA, federal, and state guidelines
- Support front desk operations, scheduling appointments, checking in patients, and verifying patient demographics
- Document treatment plans and other tasks in support of office administration
- 1-10 years of experience in a dental or orthodontic setting
- Familiarity with dental software, email, and Microsoft Word
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. with or without accommodation
- Experience with beginning records, study models, X-rays, panorex, cephalometric, and digital photographs
- Efficiency in banding, adjustments, Invisalign, and debanding
- Impressions (pouring and trimming models for appliances and presentation)
- Ship/receive/properly store all lab (retainers, study models, appliances)
- Duplicate records for transfers
- Photo knowledge - properly take quality intra-oral and extra-oral photos
- Proficient and accurate bending/coordinating arch-wires
- Removal of fixed bands/brackets
- Ability to fit headgear and give instructions
- Ligature removal and replacement
- Wire removal and placement
- Size, fit, and cement orthodontic bands
- Take impressions and bite registrations
- Separator placement
- Fabrication of orthodontic retainers
- Effective communication with patients/parents regarding POH, rubber band wear, treatment progress, and cooperation issues
- Coordinate correspondence between orthodontist and general dentists
- Promotes patient incentive initiatives
- Proficient in taking radiographs
- Competent with infection control procedures
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Experience in treating patients with special healthcare needs, specifically patients with cognitive and developmental deficits
- Ability to work with patient's parents, guardians, and caregivers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to manage time efficiently
