Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or its foreign equivalent.
- Fulfillment of current academic standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
- Completion of a supervised practice program accredited by CADE of the ADA.
- Successful passage of the Registration Examination for Dietitians and adherence to the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) recertification requirements.
- Clinical nutrition experience is preferred.
- Must hold a valid license in the state of Pennsylvania.

Role Responsibilities:


The individual in this role may be called upon to possess professional qualifications necessary for the coordination, inspection, and evaluation of the therapeutic diet program while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

This position entails supporting and advancing the objectives of the Dietary Department or Food Services Division, particularly in aligning dietary service goals with the needs of other clinical and support service departments within the organization.

The resource will be responsible for documenting and maintaining dietary assessments and reassessments.
Additionally, they will record progress notes in medical records according to established protocols.

Maintain effective communication with nursing staff regarding residents on tube feedings, those with diabetes, weight management issues, or any other nutrition-related concerns, ensuring accurate documentation in the resident medical record.

Nutritional progress for each resident will be charted every 90 days or as medically necessary, with prompt notification to the physician regarding any nutritional changes.


Capability to design and adjust standard and therapeutic diet menus in accordance with physician prescriptions and nutritional standards, considering cost, variety, and quality.

Provide guidance and oversight to junior dietetic staff engaged in the nutritional care of residents.
Ability to issue specific instructions to culinary and food service personnel regarding the preparation of specialized diet food items.
Familiarity with contemporary methods, materials, practices, and procedures utilized in a therapeutic diet program within a facility.
Understanding of food service safety and sanitation standards applicable to the facility.
Knowledge of clinical and food service responsibilities performed by food service staff.

Awareness of the procedures necessary for assembling and distributing special diet trays to ensure the accuracy and quality of menu items.

The resource will integrate the nutritional program into the broader dietetic framework.
They will develop nutritional care plans for implementation in line with physician directives and dietary needs, reviewing these plans to ensure proper execution.

The resource will also design and modify standard and therapeutic menus to align with physician orders, dietary manuals, nutritional standards, variety, and quality.

Collaboration with speech pathologists or other medical professionals may be required. Participation in interdisciplinary care plan meetings is expected. The resource may provide in-service training to dietary and allied health personnel as necessary in relevant areas of nutrition. Prior to discharge, the resource will complete a nutritional discharge plan and provide resident instruction on all therapeutic diets. Additional related duties may be assigned as required by the facility.

The resource should be capable of delivering nutritional assessments, guidance, direction, and recommendations to institutional medical and food service staff regarding the nutritional care of individuals, in conjunction with the Agencies Bureau of Healthcare Services Food Service Division.

The resource will undertake other related responsibilities as assigned by the Agency.
